I'm definitely one of those people who likes to understand things and stay in control. Thanks to COVID-19, neither is happening right now.
As we all know, things are moving rapidly. Every hour I hear of new things happening and changing.
Many travel companies have already canceled trips scheduled through April.
Even though it was not until mid May, I was nervous about a planned tour to Turkey. Would it go? Would it not go? Even if it did go, did I want to go? Thinking about all of this and the potential money lost was causing me some anxiety.
Today, I found out the company I'm traveling with is canceling all trips through May. I am sad but relieved. Now the stress of should I stay or should I go is gone. That decision is made and I didn't have to make it. Thanks to Odysseys Unlimited for making a decision early.
Hopefully, the refund process will be simple. They are offering a refund or the option to apply the money to another reservation. I want my money back. Who knows what will happen to the travel industry in the next year. I want my money in my bank account.
I also need to cancel flights since I made those reservations on my own. I hope that process is simple and I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
My parents are in a similar situation for a trip they have scheduled to Poland in early May with Road Scholar. So far, that company has only canceled trips through April. I'm guessing that will change.
Many of my friends are in similar situations with other companies.
What are you doing? How are you handling your existing plans?
We too are wondering about our road trip in June. We are planning a trip in our “tiny toy hauler” with our motorcycles to the Grand Canyon Region. Our travel will be very independent with easy social distancing, but still will wait to see what the outlook is in June.
