To Pre-pay or Not to Pre-pay

Posted on November 20, 2019November 19, 2019 by Traveling Tiffani

I struggle with this. Do I save some money by pre-paying for things like hotel rooms or do I suck it up and pay a bit extra for the flexibility if my plans change?

On one hand, saving money allows me to do more.

On the other, I am locked in should the rate go even lower or if something changes with my plans.

I have always been the kind of person who hates to pre-pay for anything. I like to keep my options open and I do not like giving my money away before I have to. I also think a place that knows they already have your money might not try to please you as much as if they have not already been paid.

Here’s the current quandary.

I have a hotel room booked for three days at a flexible rate. Pre-paying for the same room can save me about 100 Euro total. The stay is about six weeks away.

To pre-pay not to pre-pay. What would you do?
